Scrappers! is a brand new company with lots of fun ideas! Our characters are designed by Kamie Houston. Kamie absolutely loves to scrapbook and has often gone searching for that perfect sticker or cutout - only to find that there aren't any out there that fit her page subject. Being highly right brained and loving to do creative things, she started doodling her own. She used her character designs for church calendars, invitations, kids birthday cards and such. She received many inquiries on where she found them. People wanted to know where they could buy this "cute new look". This has encouraged her to share them with everyone and anyone who is interested. Kamie wanted to design her pages full of variations of: designs, frames, titles, and typed sayings all ready to go. So you can just "Clip & Create" You don't have to run all around the store trying to find a title to go with the graphic you found - it's all on one page. Not to mention most of us aren't pleased with our own handwriting and want a title that is already dolled up and ready to go, or just need a saying to inspire us and get those creative wheels turning. Kamie tells us that she can honestly say that she, at the age of 26, has over 24 years experience of doodling under her belt. In an attempt to keep her quiet in church, Kamie's parents would give her paper and a pencil. Kamie says she remembers doodling every inch of her phonebooks growing up and any other item she thought needed a little character added to it. There were very few homework assignments turned in without a doodle on them, needless to say probably not all of her school teachers appreciated this talent! Later in high school and college, Kamie enrolled in yearbook classes and loved them. She recieved awards and recognition for her creativity in caption writing and layout design. Both in high school and college her designs were chosen for the cover of the yearbooks. Kamie met her wonderful husband in college. After they were married they started designing web pages on the internet. Their business began in an extra room in their home. They taught themselves many of the needed skills from books and trial. Designing Web Pages gave Kamie the chance to sharpen up and learn great Graphic Art Skills. These skills have enabled her to add her personal touch to this Scrappers! website. Kamie now has 3 beautiful children. Her favorite thing to draw are moments inspired by them. They are always doing something interesting and entertaining. So she is now not only taking pictures of their everyday funnies for their memory books, but is also developing these kid moments onto paper to share with fellow scrappers around the world!
